New Narrative and Reader artists: Niina Mantsinen

Niina Mantsinen (b. 1986) is a textile artist who combines conventional craftsmen methods with urban city culture influences. Her hand-tufted rugs break the traditions of textile art and at the same time challenge the viewer to interpret the graffiti in a new way. Mantsinen’s works are made in collaboration with famous graffiti artists such as EGS and POE. She has created two new hand-tufted urban pieces for the upcoming New Narrative and Reader exhibition. Mantsinen is also really interested in public wall murals and one can see her works in public buildings, tunnels and electrical boxes in Joensuu region. Mantsinen has been studying in Joensuu where she is now currently living and working.
