New Narrative and Reader artists: Sampo Malin

Sampo Malin (b. 1977) is a sculptor who is interested in small gestures, storytelling and improbabilities. The materials are determined according to each idea, of which one can always detect a tad of playfulness and impossibility. Conveying Dreams, the work for New Narrative and Reader, is based on the idea of selling illusions to people. “Commercial and ideological imagery makes people to reach towards a better life by any means necessary (…) a person in weak position will take any opportunity that sounds more appealing” Malin describes. Malin has graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki, and lives and works in Riihimäki.
