Laura Konttinen’s ‘Lento’ now as a stamp

Laura Konttinen (1987) is among the six winning artists in a stamp design contest carried out by Itella Posti and the Artists’ Association of Finland to celebrate Association’s 150th anniversary. Posti selected works that represent the broad area of visual arts, including traditional paintings and photography. Laura Konttinen’s Lento stamp can now be purchased from post offices around Finland, and all the works can be seen in Postal Museum exhibition from January 19 to March 1 2015. All winning artists were awarded with 2000 euros.

Laura Konttinen works mainly with photography. Her photographic collages and installations are created by craftsmen methods of cutting and gluing, reshaping and reconstructing the past. The core focus is in the materiality of the photograph. Laura Konttinen is happy about the contest: “My winning work is a photography of a paper sculpture that reflects artistic practice. To me, a photograph is a fascinating object that contains all kinds of secrets to the mystic past and links to now.”
