The Helsinki Baroque Orchestra’s concerts in December

The Helsinki Baroque Orchestra plays early music respecting its original language.
In the upcoming Christmas concert HeBo will play a rare oratorio by Baldassare Galuppi “The Fall of Adam” with four international soloists.
“Interesting is that the original manuscript is retained at the University of Uppsala, although the piece has been originally performed in Rome during the 1740s”, says Aapo Häkkinen, the artistic director of HeBo.
The last concert is the New Year’s concert, in which Häkkinen performs as a harpsichord soloist as well.
“This year we will perform the most renowned composers of the high baroque, Bach and Vivaldi”, he says.

Helsingin Barokkiorkesteri soittaa vanhaa musiikkia kunnioittaen sen alkuperäistä kieltä.
Joulukonsertissa kuullaan harvinainen Galuppin oratorio Aadamin lankeemus. Teosta varten Helsinkiin saapuu neljä solistivierasta.
“Kiinnostavaa teoksessa on myös, että sen käsikirjoitusta säilytetään Uppsalan yliopistossa, vaikka teos on alun perin esitetty Roomassa 1740-luvulla. Se on siis aikanaan tunnettu omassakin kulttuuripiirissämme”, Häkkinen kertoo.
Viimeinen vuoden 2023 esityksistä on perinteinen uudenvuoden juhlakonsertti, jossa Häkkinen esiintyy myös itse cembalosolistina.
“Tänä vuonna esitämme tunnetuimpia täysbarokin säveltäjiä Bachia ja Vivaldia – hyväksi koettuja, helposti lähestyttäviä teoksia”, hän summaa.
