Would you like to receive feedback on your artistic work and practice from a group of experienced arts professionals? You are invited to present your work in an intimate group critique and discussion with Finnish Art Agency’s CEO Laura Köönikkä and Director Mark Devereux. The event provides an opportunity for a group of artists and other creatives to meet, develop and exchange ideas and receive advice on professional development.

Participants are asked to bring examples of their work on a USB stick, a printed portfolio or a laptop. If necessary, a laptop can be provided.

Mark Devereux graduated from BA (Hons) Photography and MA Fine Art at Staffordshire University in 2006. Responding to limited opportunities available in the region, immediately after graduating he founded Blank Media Collective and later BLANKSPACE Gallery. During six-years as Director of the organisation he was pivotal in providing numerous early-career artists from the UK and abroad with their first exhibition, performing or writing opportunity. Devereux holds over 10-years experience working across the art sector, working with more than 350 artists, curating over 100 exhibitions and events, publishing 4 books and facilitating numerous artist development programmes.

Laura Köönikkä is the founder and CEO of Finnish Art Agency. She is one of the leading independent figures in curating, producing, advicing and project management in Finland. She has been invited to curate and manage projects for various institutions such as Espace Louis Vuitton Tokyo in Japan, Bildmuseet in Sweden, Korundi Art Museum in Finland and Kunsthall Grenland in Norway. She was the curator and commissioner for the Finnish Pavilion in Venice Biennale (2011). Since 2003, Köönikkä has been working in different positions, such as the artistic director of FRAME Finnish Fund for Art Exchange, chief curator at Tampere Art Museum and TR1 Kunsthalle and curator at Pori Art museum. Laura was the founder of the international art magazine FAT Finnish Art Today. She holds an MA in Art History (Jyväskylä University). She is a member of Finnish Young Artist of the Year committee and National Council for the Visual Arts in Finland 2017–18.
